Joseph "Joe" Vasseur

Joseph "Joe" Lee Vasseur, 76 of Benton, Kentucky passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025 at his home.

Joe was born in Gilbertsville, Kentucky on March 23, 1949 to the late Roy Vasseur and Lexie Donohoo Vasseur. Joe proudly served our country in the United States Navy and retired from the National Guard.  He was a member of Palma United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday school for many years. Joe enjoyed fishing and being outdoors in his spare time. He was the owner and operator of his own barber shop, he never met a stranger and loved talking and joking with all of the patrons that visited him each day.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Glenda Dunn Vasseur; two sons, Anthony Vasseur, wife, Jessie and Andrew Vasseur, wife, Kayla, all of Benton; brother, Tom Vasseur; three sisters, Nickie Jones, Jane Hines and Linda Woodward; five grandchildren, Addie Vasseur, Kaden Vasseur, Maggie Vasseur, Anna Vasseur and Jase Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William Vasseur and Roy Vasseur; two sisters, Martha Kendall and Minnie Jo Edwards.

A funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 19, 2025 at Collier Funeral Home with Jeremy Rogers officiating. Burial and military rites will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Benton, KY.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at Collier Funeral Home, 211 West 5th, Benton, Kentucky.
