Judith Ann “Judi” Morrow Doty, 78, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026 in Mayfield, Ky after an extended stay in assisted living care.
Known as a woman of faith, family and fairness, Judi was never one to fade into the background. She had strong opinions and a tough exterior, but her “inner circle” knew a fiercely supportive, deeply devoted friend with an incredibly tender heart - especially toward those for whom life had been hard.
Judi was a graduate of Benton High School (class of 1965); Freed-Hardeman College (class of 1967); and Murray State University (class of 1971). Her working years included teaching, glass-blowing, waitressing, and business managing the Holliday restaurant in Aurora, the Lakeside Marina at Jonathan Creek; and her husband’s business, Doty’s Custom Cabinetry in Gilbertsville.
Judi was a member of the Central Church in Benton, serving on the worship committee, singing on the praise team, and working with the benevolence program and Feeding America to pay bills, supply medication and provide food and other essentials for families in crisis.
Judi’s favorite years were those she shared with the love of her life, George. They had a beautiful home on Kentucky Lake where they welcomed friends and family; watched the grandkids fish and swim off the dock; spoiled their dog, Sammie; enjoyed the birds, boats, and beautiful sunsets from the back deck; and cheered for the U.K. Wildcats.
Born on Saturday, April 5, 1947, Judi departed this world on her dad’s birthday. Judi was preceded in death by her parents, C.G. “Doc” and Ann Morrow; her beloved husband, George Patrick Doty; one great-grandchild, Sawyer Ordunez; her brother and sister-in-law, Paul C. & Nancy (Park) Morrow, and her niece, Stacey Morrow Lockhart.
Judi is survived by three daughters: Sheila Fritts of Wickenburg, AZ; Kim (Nick) Summers of Mayfield; Meri Colleary of Palm Harbor, FL; one son, Michael Scott of Paducah, KY; nine grandchildren: Jesse David (Shannon) Ordunez, Nic Ordunez, John Ordunez, Jordan Colleary, Cloud Fritts, Shawn Scott, Dane Needham, Shelby Cline and Trace Scott; seven great-grandchildren: Clayton Ordunez, Kamryn Ordunez, Caraline Ordunez, Linkin Ordunez, Mia Ordunez, Oliver Ordunez and Ace Ordunez; one niece, Stephanie (David) England of Nashville; one cousin, Shirley Morrow (Larry) Moulton of Ashland City, TN; and four great-nieces and nephews.
Collier Funeral Home, Benton, KY is handling the arrangements with internment at the Benton Cemetery. Per Judi’s request, there will be no formal “Goodbye”, just a private “See you later” for her loved ones.
