Linda Hollingsworth

Linda Kay Hollingsworth passed away peacefully at home on September 24, 2026. She was born July 11th, 1955, to the late Alvin ‘Gene’ Hollingsworth and the late Virginia Riordan Hollingsworth in Indianapolis, Indiana. She lived and went to school in Indianapolis until the age of 11 when the family relocated back to western Kentucky. Linda attended Hickman County High School, graduating in 1973. After working for a year at Harper’s Country Hams, she relocated to California and lived and worked for a period of 1 year, becoming a Christian on June 19, 1975, through Agape Christian Ministries in Canyon Country, California.

Upon returning to Kentucky, she enrolled at Murray State University in the dietetics program and earned an Associate of Science degree in 1980. She then gained employment at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale as an assistant food manager from 1980 to 1984. In 1984, she relocated to East Lansing, Michigan to work at Michigan State University as an assistant food production manager. She also worked with training the new supervisors in the program. During this time, she enrolled at Great Lakes Christian College in Lansing, Michigan to obtain a Bachelor of Religious Education in Leadership, Ethics, and Management which she received in 1995. After leaving Michigan State, she returned to western Kentucky and enrolled in Murray State University in the Organizational Communication program. She obtained a Master of Science degree in Organizational Communication in 1997. During the pursuit of her degree, she served as a graduate assistant and obtained employment at Murray State University as a food service buyer. She also taught adjunct classes in the department of Dietetics. Linda then became the dining hall manager at Winslow Dining Hall. Later she took a position at West Kentucky Community Technical College in Paducah, Kentucky as a food service coordinator and taught adjunct classes in the Department of Communications mostly in Introduction to Public Speaking. She retired in June of 2016. Over the years Linda researched family genealogy, amassing a large amount of family history for her own family and others. It became one of her greatest passions. In 2008, she became involved in raising goats and helping other farmers with their herds by feeding, birthing, and in general all care. She became known as “The Goat Lady”

She leaves behind a sister, Peggy Lee Hollingsworth Aleshire; a brother, Kevin Eugene Hollingsworth; a niece, Christina Lee Aleshire, all of Clinton, KY; and a nephew, Jonathan Ray Aleshire of Roy Washington. She also leaves behind aunts, Iola Riordan of Indianapolis, IN and Margie Riordan of Munfordville, KY, as well as an array of beloved cousins, Lisa Dickens of Bonnieville, KY, Melissa and Ava Black of Munfordville, KY, Gail Nash and Tommy Caswell of Horse Cave, KY, and Susie Beavers, Carol Grubbs, and Maggie Fisher of Louisville, KY.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at Collier Funeral Home, 211 W 5th St Benton, KY 42025.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, September 28, 2026, under the pavilion at Zion Cemetery in Columbus, KY with Mary Potter and Laura Poole officiating
