Marlene J. Stone

Marlene J. Stone, 88, of Benton, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2026, at Calvert City Convalescent Center.

She was born on Wednesday, February 2, 1938, in Calloway County, Kentucky to the late Lorene Groves Harper and Dudley Harper. Marlene worked as a secretary at Freddie Poe Chevrolet, which is now known as Country Chevrolet. She was a faithful member of New Bethel Baptist Church. She loved to play golf; she got so good at it that she scored two hole in ones. Marlene never missed one of her grandchildren's sporting events. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her husband of over 70 years, H. Glen Stone of Benton; two sons, Jeff Stone (Susan) of Benton and Roger Stone (Lisa) of Knoxville, Tennessee; one daughter, Phyllis Thompson of Benton; one brother, Curtis Harper (Nancy) of Benton; five grandchildren, Tanner Thompson, Chelsea Woodruff, Morgan Stone Puckett, Jansen Melton, Emily McKenzie; as well as 10 great grandchildren, Stone McKenzie, Kylee McKenzie, Cameron Cook, Waylon Woodruff, Reagan Woodruff, Braylen Melton, Kamdyn Melton, Moxon Woodruff, Henley Puckett, and Murphy Thompson,

She was preceded in death by one grandchild, Audrey Woodruff; one brother, Jim Harper; one sister, Doris Lane; and her parents.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, from 11 AM until 1 PM at Collier Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 1 PM at Collier Funeral Home. Bro. Joe Ed Brooks will be officiating. Burial will follow in Cole Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Marlene's memory to the Cole Cemetery Fund, c/o Shelly Cole, 1847 Houser Road, Benton, KY 42025.
