Mary Cornwell

Mary Evelyn York Cornwell, age 77, of Benton, passed away at Lakeway Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Mary was born in Marshall County on April 14, 1948 to the late Tommie York and the late Effie Fulks York. She worked for a number of years as the manager of a Shell Gas Station. Mary was a member of Sharpe Missionary Baptist Church. She will be remembered as a hard worker that worked until she was no longer able. Mary's passion for tracing her family's genealogy will live on for years to come.

She is survived by her husband, Jewell Cornwell; one son, Bradley Hall; one daughter, Anessia Hall Cole; one brother, Jerry York of Murray, KY; three sisters, Earnestine Goins of Alabama, Shellia Farmer of Murray, KY, Linda Humphrey of Benton, KY; three grandchildren, Megan Hall, Brittany Hall, Tommy Hall; five great grandchildren, Braden Hall, Rickie Barnett, Ava DeMoss, Kenzie DeMoss, Cayden DeMoss; as well as several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Clifton Hall; two brothers, Marvin York and Monroe York; and two sisters, Audrey Bray and Dorothy Ham.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026 from 12:00PM until 12:30PM at Collier Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026 at 1:00PM at Marshall County Memory Gardens with Kathy McGuire officiating.
