Olliver Jewell Barrett was born March 24, 1931, to O.J. and Kitty Blackwell Barrett at Little Cypress, KY in Marshall County. He died on Thursday, May 13, 2026, surrounded by his family.
He is survived by daughters Sherry Cooper (Kenny) and Debby Custer (Gary) of Nashville, TN; grandsons: Jonathan Barrett Cooper (Michelle), Joshua Cooper (Rosa), Nathan Zimmerer (Roni), and Patrick Zimmerer; great grandchildren: Emily Cooper, Olivia Cooper, Iyana Zimmerer, Quinn Cooper, and Abel Cooper.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers E.B. and Bobby Barrett, and grandson David Barrett Zimmerer, wife Loretta Walker Barrett, and wife Jean Farley Barrett.
Rev. Barrett graduated from Murray State University and attended the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He was a brick mason by trade and a minister since 1950. He pastored four churches over 65 years and taught the “Sunday School of the Air” radio program for 46 years.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at Collier Funeral Home with Dr. C. Kenny Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Kenton Cemetery, Paducah, KY.
Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at Collier Funeral Home.
