Steve "Snake" Hobbs

Steven Redford Hobbs, 64, of Benton, Kentucky passed away Monday, September 14th, 2026 surrounded by his loved ones at his residence.

He was born on July 7th, 1962 in Paducah, Kentucky to Helen "Pat" Jones. Steven, or Snake as many knew him, was a loving father and friend to many. He was a dedicated member of the Local 184 Plumbers and Steamfitters Union for over 30 years. He enjoyed reminiscing on his dirt track racing career as well as taking family vacations to the Smoky Mountains. Besides his children and wife, his greatest loves were dirt track racing, spending time outdoors, listening to bluegrass music, and cooking for those he loved. Although he had two biological children, he had many children who weren’t blood related who came in the form of his children’s friends whom he loved just the same. Snake lived his life to the fullest and would want all of those who cared about him to know that.

Snake is survived by his wife, Laryssa Hobbs (Frick), his children, Dawson Hobbs and Paycee Hobbs (Austin Shea), his father, Johnny Jones, his siblings, Johnna Workman, Kathy Henson, Teresa Hall, Christal Ylitalo, and Johnny Jones (Darlena Jones), and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Snake was preceded in death by his mother, Pat Jones, and his grandmother, Audrey Jones.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, September 18, 2026 at Collier Funeral Home with Cory Westerfield officiating.  Burial will follow at Benton Church of Christ Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at Collier Funeral Home.
