Wilson Ray Griggs, 81, of Calvert City Kentucky passed away Thursday June 12th at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville Tennessee. Wilson was born August 16, 1943 to parents Evelyn Doughty Griggs and Woodrow Griggs. He was of the Church of Christ faith.
Wilson is survived by his wife of 64 years, Nancy Gordon Griggs, two sons David Griggs (Donna) of Gallatin TN and Chris Griggs (Lori) of Calvert City KY, and one daughter, Robin Griggs Crosby (Matt) of Hopkinsville KY. He has four grandchildren, Cole and Gage Griggs, Aaron and Nate Crosby, and one step grandchild, Kyle Courtney (Kelly). Also surviving are his brother, Randle Griggs and niece, Amanda Griggs, both of Benton KY. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Wanda Carr Griggs.
Wilson was a huge fan of the UK Wildcats, St. Louis Cardinals, and any sport or activity his grandsons were participating in.
Wilson enjoyed hot rods, attending numerous street rod shows, dirt track races, stock car races, and drag races throughout his lifetime. He was the owner of a 38 Ford Coupe that he loved to show and drive. He also loved to travel with family and friends and had visited all lower 48 states.
Wilson retired from Air Products and Chemicals in Calvert City KY after 30 years of service as a Union Maintenance Mechanic. Prior to his career at Air Products, Wilson taught Auto Mechanics at Marshall County Vocational School in Benton KY.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Collier Funeral Home Chapel with Gary Knuckles officiating.
Burial to follow at Marshall County Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be on Friday, June 20, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Collier Funeral Home located at 211 West 5th Street Benton, KY 42025, 270-527-3141.
