Anita Harris Lutz, 72, of Benton, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Calvert City Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Anita was born in Danville, Illinois, on September 27, 1952, to the late Earl Harris and Neoma Grover Harris. Her loving and nurturing personality was felt by everyone she interacted with, and it eventually led her to spend many years working as a CNA at Oakview Nursing Home, as well as in the long-term care unit at the old Marshall County Hospital. Helping others was not the only thing that Anita was passionate about. She was an excellent cook who enjoyed preparing meals for others both at home and while working in the kitchen at Bee Springs Lodge and Ray’s Roost. Even though she had many meals that people loved, most everyone could agree that her most loved dish was her potato soup and dumplings. When she wasn’t caring for others or cooking, Anita made sure to allow time for her favorite pastime, which was playing Bingo and card games with all of her friends and family. Anita’s loving character and passion for the things she loved and enjoyed the most in life will be cherished and missed by all.
She is survived by one son, Anthony “Tony” English (Melissa) of Paducah; her four sisters, Blanch Springer of Danville, Illinois, Rita Gibson of Indianapolis, Indiana, Dorothy Newcomb of Murray, Kentucky, and Barbara Stevens of Danville, Illinois; one brother, Rev. Robert L. “Bob” Harris (Lucy) of Paducah, Kentucky; her four grandchildren, Savannah Baker (Matt), Desireah English, Dakota English, and Bryce English; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Leonard Lutz; one sister, Louise Snyder; three brothers, Ronnie Harris, Ben Harris, and Gary Harris; and her parents, Earl Harris and Neoma Grover Harris.
