Billy Usher Crittendon, 83, of Benton, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at his home.

Billy was born in Graves County, Kentucky, on December 15, 1940, to the late Elvie Crittendon and Nettie Evans Crittendon. He graduated from Sedalia High School and later received his degree from Droughon’s Business College. He proudly served his country and became a veteran of the United States Army, after being stationed in Germany, during the Vietnam War. Billy loved to work and stay busy and was definitely not a stranger to hard work. After starting work at Ingersoll-Rand on the ground floor, through his hard work and dedication, he eventually became a supervisor and area manager before his retirement. After a few short years of being retired, Billy decided he was ready to go back to work and started working for CTI until he was no longer able to work.

Though he loved to stay busy, Billy always set time aside for his faith and his family. He was a member of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church and loved the Lord and his church very deeply. Billy was a cherished husband, a guiding light as a father, and an adored grandfather to his only granddaughter, Neely. His dedication and love touched the lives of all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Amanda Roberts Crittendon; one daughter, Amy Northcott (Todd) of Benton, Kentucky; one son Michael Crittendon of Benton, Kentucky; one brother, Hollie Crittendon (LaRue) of Mayfield, Kentucky; one granddaughter, Neely Northcott; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Laverne Crittendon and Christeen Mathis; three brothers, Merle “Sonny” Crittendon, Earl Crittendon, and Bob Crittendon; and his parents, Elvie Crittendon and Nettie Evans Crittendon.
