Candice “Candy” Ann Chumbler, née Moores, 76, of Benton, Kentucky, passed away at 6:57 PM on Saturday, August 16, at Lakeway Nursing Home.
She was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on February 24, 1949, to the late Charles “Bud” Algin Moores and Helen Lorainne (Williams) Moores. Candy was a retired elementary school teacher who began her career at Briensburg Elementary and later went on to teach first grade at Benton Elementary for the remainder of her career. Candy retired in 2008 after serving 34 years with the Marshall County school system. She graduated from Benton High School in 1965 and attended both Eastern Kentucky University and Murray State University, earning a degree in Elementary Education.
Candy had a special way about her. She made everyone around her feel loved and supported. She was a radiant light whose warm smile and gentle spirit will be deeply missed. Her legacy of love, compassion, and kindness will continue to inspire all those who knew her. Candy brought joy to many and touched countless lives.
She was deeply devoted to her family and was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Candy had a great sense of humor and a love for music (especially The Beatles) and the arts. She will be forever loved and missed-a blessing to all who knew her.
Candy is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ray Walker Chumbler, Jr. of Benton, Kentucky; one daughter, Kristen Bryant (Adam) of Benton; one son, Ray Chumbler III (Kelly) of Benton; two brothers, Greg Moores and Tim Moores; and four grandchildren, Alec Bryant, Jackson Chumbler, Jonathan Chumbler, and Ray Chumbler IV.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles “Bud” Algin Moores and Helen Lorainne (Williams) Moores.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the Life Celebration Center of Filbeck-Cann, 1003 Poplar Street, Benton, KY 42025.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the Life Celebration Center of Filbeck-Cann with Bro. Charles Frazier officiating. Committal following at Marshall County Memory Gardens.
