Carol Story Owens, age 82, of Calvert City, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Calvert City Nursing & Rehab. A dedicated professional, Carol retired after 24 years in Human Resources at Atochem in Calvert City, Kentucky. In retirement, Carol's interests were as varied as they were heartfelt. A talented seamstress and crafter, she found joy in creating beautiful things with her hands. She and Jim combined their skills to breathe new life into vintage furniture, Carol with her expert reupholstering and Jim with his woodworking. Their business was not only a testament to their creative spirits but also a shared endeavor that brought them closer together.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Owens of Calvert City, and together, they raised a family that was the center of Carol's world. Her daughter, Jo Beth Jones and her husband Sam of Lexington, Kentucky; her son, Cary Owens of Calvert City, Kentucky; her grandchildren, Kristen Lockhart and her husband Will, Conner Jones and his wife Kristen, Hannah Lewis and her husband Bart, and Hunter Owens. Carol's joy was multiplied with the arrival of her great-grandchildren, Landry Lockhart, John William Lockhart, Juliette Jones, Callaway Jones, Andie Lewis, and Brynn Lewis, each of whom brought a sparkle to her eye and a smile to her face.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James W. Story and Neatra Bond Story; and her brother, James (Jimmy) L. Story.
