Charles Ray Edmonds, 88, of Benton, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at his home surrounded by loved ones.

Charlie was born on February 11, 1938, in Burna, Kentucky, to the late Ottie and Raylene Edmonds. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many. His life was centered on his family, hard work, faith, and service to his community. Through his dedication and entrepreneurial spirit, he built not only successful businesses but also lasting relationships with the people he served and worked alongside.

Charlie began his career as a bread deliveryman, where he met the love of his life, Wilma. The two built a beautiful life together, sharing 56 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and family. An opportunity later brought Charlie to Benton, where he opened and operated the local restaurant many will remember as Burger Queen, later becoming Druther’s, and eventually Dairy Queen. Over the years, Charlie also partnered in other business ventures, including Calvert City Shell convenience store and Willow Pond in Eddyville.

Charlie was deeply committed to his community through public service. He faithfully served on the Benton City Council for over 25 years, helping guide and support the growth of the city he loved. He was also a longtime member of Christian Fellowship Church, where he enjoyed serving as a greeter, welcoming members and guests as they entered.

In his spare time, Charlie enjoyed woodworking and took pride in building and creating things with his hands. He loved spending time watching his favorite teams, cheering on Marshall County sports, the St. Louis Cardinals, and the Kentucky Wildcats, often surrounded by family and friends.

He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, generous heart, and the pride he took in his family and community. He never met a stranger and was known for his warm smile that made people feel welcome and at ease. He loved visiting with customers, friends, and neighbors, many of whom became like family over the years. Charlie believed in showing up, working hard, and treating people right. His legacy lives on not only through the businesses he helped build and the city he helped serve, but most importantly through the family he loved so deeply and the countless lives he touched along the way.

Charlie is survived by his beloved wife, Wilma Edmonds; his two daughters, Alison Clark of Benton and Jennifer Jezik (Tommy) of Benton; one son, Carter Edmonds (Brenda) of Lebanon, Tennessee; his five grandchildren, Garrett Clark, Presley Jezik, Neyland Jezik, Cole Edmonds, and Cortny Edmonds; two great-grandchildren, Chesney Edmonds and Cohen Edmonds; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Edwards; his brother, Donnie Edmonds; and his parents, Ottie and Raylene Edmonds.
