He was a zealous sports fan who faithfully followed Marshall County High School basketball, University of Kentucky basketball, and St. Louis Cardinals baseball. Whether cheering from home or talking about the latest game, Clayton’s love of sports was part of the joy he brought into everyday life. When he wasn’t cheering on a sports team, he himself was hitting the greens any chance he could. He was an avid golfer and was always up for a round or two.
Faith played a significant role in Clayton’s life. As a dedicated Christian and a member of the First Baptist Church, he discovered fellowship, support, and spiritual growth there. He was also a member of the church's security team, dedicated to ensuring the safety of all attendees during their visit.
Above all, he took immense pride in being called “Pops,” a title he cherished deeply. This role was incredibly meaningful to him, reflecting the special bond he shared with his beloved granddaughter.
Clayton is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kia McClard Crouse of Benton; two sons, Matthew Clayton Crouse and Rayne Taylor Crouse (Laken), both of Benton; one sister, Linda Reynolds, also of Benton; one brother, David Crouse of Grand Rivers, Kentucky; and one granddaughter, Layton Reign Crouse.
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Charlotte Ross Crouse; and his parents, J.C. and Frances "Louise" Dycus Crouse.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at the Life Celebration Center of Filbeck-Cann, 1003 Poplar Street, Benton, KY 42025.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at the Life Celebration Center of Filbeck-Cann, with Bro. Don Wilson officiating.
