Dawn McLaughlin Wilson, 71, of Calvert City, Kentucky passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023 at the Ray & Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah. 

 

Dawn Wilson was born on January 21, 1952, in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, to the late Harry "Ham" McLaughlin and Josephine McLaughlin. After devoting 34 years to serving as a special needs teacher in Pennsylvania, she retired. Dawn had always enjoyed traveling to Kentucky with her family as a child, especially spending time at the Land Between the Lakes. After her retirement, she and her husband, Edward Wilson, decided to move down to Kentucky and enjoy their retirement together.

 

She and her husband loved to travel and experience new places together. They also enjoyed playing and introducing Bocce Ball to many of their friends and people they had met after moving to Kentucky. Dawn was a former member of the American Legion Post 236 in Calvert City, and a current member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 3510 in Calvert City.

 

She is survived by her husband, Edward Wilson; two step-daughters, Michele Chester (Dan) of Point Marion, Pennsylvania and Nicole Wilson (Jason) of Cannonsburg, Pennsylvania; one step-son, Daniel Wilson (Merideth) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; one sister, Mary Jo Elam (Bob) of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania; one brother, Robert McLaughlin (Terrie) of Beckley, West Virginia; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.      

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry “Ham” McLaughlin and Josephine Gadesy McLaughlin.
