Denise Alice Baker, 89, of Benton, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Lakeway Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Denise was born on April 30, 1937, in Suncook, New Hampshire, to the late Romuald Grandmaison, Sr. and Marie Leona Desmarais Grandmaison. She worked for many years in manufacturing at the Mattel factory until it closed. She then worked for 20 years at the local Walmart, where she retired. Denise was an early bird, and a lot of the time she would arrive one, and sometimes even two, hours early for her scheduled shifts. She liked to work and stay busy. When she wasn't on the job, she preferred the comfort of home. She would relax indoors while indulging in her favorite television shows. She also fancied collecting Christmas village pieces and always made sure to have her little winter town lit up through the holidays.
Denise is survived by her two sons, David Duncan (Peggy) and James Duncan (Brittany), both of Benton; one sister, Helen Major; one brother, Norman Grandmaison; ten grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Loyd Duncan; second husband, William Baker; one daughter, Lora Wood; one son, John Duncan; one sister, Madeline Grandmaison; two brothers, Romuald Grandmaison, Jr. and Leo Grandmaison; and her parents, Romuald Grandmaison, Sr. and Marie Leona Desmarais Grandmaison.
Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Friday, September 11, 2026, at the Life Celebration Center of Filbeck-Cann, 1003 Poplar Street, Benton, KY 42025.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 11, 2026, at the Life Celebration Center of Filbeck-Cann. Burial will follow at Mullinax Cemetery.
