Garvilene Darnall Collins, age 90, of Benton, passed away May 8, 2026, at her home.
Garvilene was born on October 24, 1935, to the late Garvin Henry Darnall and Velma Sue Nelson Darnall.
Garvilene was a devoted mother, grandmother, and cherished friend whose love for her family was evident in everything she did. She was a talented cook who enjoyed canning and sharing her creations with those she loved. Garvilene also had a gift for sewing and took pride in her handiwork.
A woman of Christian faith, she lived with kindness, strength, and determination. She was an accomplished hunter and marksman, especially skilled with a bow, and competed successfully in archery competitions, earning recognition for her talent. Garvilene also loved to travel and treasured the memories made along the way. Above all, she adored her family and will be remembered for her warmth, independence, and the many ways she cared for those around her.
She is survived by three daughters, Edna Sue Griggs (Carl J.) Newton of Benton, Velma Louise (Alan) Turner of Cadiz and Janyce Carrel (David Martin) Sorrels of Paducah; one son, Louis Earl Collins, Jr. of Benton; one brother, Larry Dale (Jeanette) Darnall of Hardin; several grandchildren, Susan Hicks (Dominic) Caporali; Mitzi Griggs (Dean) McCoy, Pamela Newton (Howard) Clark, Carla Newton (Michael) Beeler, Sheila Newton (Mitch) Davis; James (Teresa) Ross, Rebecca Shackelford, Adam (Nikki) Collins, Joseph (Carrie) Collins, Frank Weidl, Maranda (Boris) Kan, Jennifer (Timothy) Strating; great-grandchildren, Ocean Nikole Caporali (Alex) Smith, Alexandria Caporali, Wraith Caporali, Francesca Caporali,Molly McCoy (Michael) Chance, Kalli McCoy (Perry) Colley, Jasmine Beeler, Courtney Beeler (Trev) Green, Shelby Hutsler (Sean) Glover, Edward Hutsler, Tessa Clark, Matthew Davis, Jeffery Ross, Victoria Burdett, Jason Shakelford, Cameron Shakelford, Jenna (Deriek) Spahel, Bethany Collins (Logan), Courtney Collins (Nicholas) Heaton, Nicholas (Landrey) Collins, Ellis and Zia Kan, Felix Starting; great-great-grandchildren, Marloe Smith, Autumn Swain, Phoenix Giovando, Wyatt & Finlee Spahel, Lyla Heaton, John Wiedl; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Louis Earl Collins, Sr.; brothers, Frank Nelson Darnall and Donald Alvin Darnall.
A private memorial burial will be held at a later date.
