Gary Gene Lynch, 71, of Mayfield, Kentucky passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023 at Baptist Health Paducah.
Gary was born in Benton, Kentucky on June 9, 1952 to the late Troy Gene Lynch and Shirley Thweatt Lynch. Gary was known for being a very hardworking man and spent many years working for Walker Marine as a Towboat Pilot. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed cutting up with his friends and family. When he wasn’t working, he loved to go out dancing or sit down to watch football or some of his favorite western shows and movies. Gary was also very strong and determined, after years of battling lung cancer was proud to be able to say that he was a cancer survivor. He was a great man who was very well loved and will be missed deeply by all of his close friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Ellegood Lynch; two daughters, Billie Lofton (Mark) of Benton and Jennifer Higgins (Jerry) of Hickory; two sons, Michael Sams (Kay) and Jason Sams (Joleen) both of Fancy Farm; ten grandchildren, Andrew Lofton, Mark Lofton, Maria Lofton, Jessica Ballard, JD Higgins, Aaron Higgins, Amanda Higgins, Robert Sams, Timothy Sams, and Ashley Sams; eighteen great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Bobby Sams; two brothers, Bobby Joe Lynch and Johnny Page Sr.; and his parents.
Filbeck-Cann Funeral Home of Milner & Orr is handling the arrangements.
