Irene Davis Arant, 88, of Benton, Kentucky, passed away on September 20, 2025, at Calvert City Convalescent Center.

Irene was born in Livingston County, Kentucky, on September 4, 1937, to the late Reed Davis and Ruby Williams Davis. After graduating from Droughon’s Business College, Irene went to work for the Marshall County Board of Education, where she worked in the payroll department until her retirement. Outside of work, Irene’s life was filled with family, friends, and faith.

As a woman of deep Christian faith, Irene was a long-time member of Palma Methodist Church. Her commitment to her religion was evident in her daily life and the way she lovingly interacted with those around her. Irene's interests were as sweet and rich as the desserts that she so lovingly baked. Her famous Coconut and Strawberry Cakes and Pies were the highlights of many family gatherings. When not baking, she enjoyed loading the family up in their car to take a trip to Jet A Burger for some ice cream. Irene's talents extended beyond the kitchen; she was an exceptional seamstress, often creating beautiful dresses and clothing for her family and friends. Gardening was more than a hobby for Irene; it was a family affair, an opportunity to teach and spend time with her family. She took great pride in making her own homemade jelly, juices, and other homegrown items from the garden.

Travel was another passion of Irene's, one she shared with her husband, Eddie. Together, they visited nearly every state, with the exception of three. The Smokies held a special place in their hearts, serving as a favorite place to travel to with family and friends. Above all, Irene was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, whose family was the center of her world. Her love knew no bounds, and her family and friends will always cherish the countless memories they created and the love that was shared between them.

She is survived by her husband, Edmund “Eddie” Arant; her daughter, Kimberly Bradley (Stacey) of Gilbertsville; her two sons, Michael Arant (Nan) of Calvert City and Ronald Arant of Murray; six grandchildren, Ian Bradley (Jen), Elyssa Fletcher (Matt), Kaitlyn Hill (Brian), Nathan Arant (Heather), Claire Arant, and Connor Arant; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her three sisters, Marlene Black, Melva Hargett, and Margaret Smith; her four brothers, Parvin Davis, Harold Davis, Max Davis, and Talmadge Davis; and her parents.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at the Life Celebration Center of Filbeck-Cann, 1003 Poplar Street, Benton, KY 42025.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at the Life Celebration Center of Filbeck-Cann with Pastor Bob Cain Officiating. Burial will follow at Fooks Cemetery.
