Jackie Ray Bragg, 87, of Marshall County, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at the Anna Mae Owen Hospice House in Murray.

Jackie was born on November 28, 1938, in Benton, Kentucky, to the late Kenneth Bragg and Inez Phillips Bragg. He graduated from North Marshall High School in 1958 and, a few years later, enlisted in the United States Army, where he served as a heavy equipment mechanic in Germany for two years. After returning from the Army, Jack spent the rest of his career working in construction. His career began when he worked to help build the Barkley Dam, after which he left to continue his construction career in Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, and Alaska. During his time in Alaska, he helped to build the Trans-Alaska Pipeline before returning home to Marshall County and working for the Marshall County Road Department, where he worked until his retirement.

As a man of faith, Jackie was a long-time member of Oak Valley Church of Christ. He had a love for antiques and vintage items. He spent years combing through western Kentucky searching for valuables at yard sales, flea markets, and auctions. He enjoyed bringing the items home to clean and restore, so he could turn around and resell them at local auctions and antique booths. With his friendly personality, he never met a stranger and made friends everywhere he went. He never liked to sit still and was always looking for someone to start up a conversation with. He combined those characteristics with his desire to battle his family’s long history of heart disease and became an avid walker. Not a day went by that he wasn’t out walking, and on some days he would go for multiple walks. For years, he spent countless hours at Mega Gym in Draffenville or outside at a local track exercising and socializing with others. Jackie enjoyed spending the last few years of his life living at the Stilley House in Benton where he made many new friends during his time there.

He is survived by his cousins, Shirley Bragg Brazelton of Benton, Terry Bragg (Janice), Teresa Bragg Rice (Tim) of Benton, Dorthy Cox of Mayfield; and Dylan Bragg of Benton.

He was preceded in death by his twin sister, Janice Wilson; and his parents, Kenneth Bragg and Inez Phillips Bragg.
