James “Jeff” Wiseman, 63, of Benton, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Marshall County Hospital in Benton.

Jeff was born in Murray, Kentucky, on October 26, 1962, to Ernestine “Ernie” Wiseman and the late James “Jimmy” Wiseman. Before graduating from Marshall County High School in 1981, Jeff began his extensive career with J&R Pharmacy at the age of 17. For nearly four decades, Jeff dedicated himself to serving his community alongside his father, Jimmy, at the pharmacy. It was at this pharmacy that Jeff met the love of his life, Sharon Smith, and on August 2, 1986, the couple married and began their journey through life together.

As a man of faith, Jeff attended First Missionary Baptist Church in Benton. He had a huge passion for sports and being outdoors. Jeff enjoyed deer hunting and was a devoted UK Basketball fan and loyal supporter of the Miami Dolphins, regardless of whether or not they were winning or losing. From a young age, Jeff developed a love for golf, a passion that he both inherited and shared with his father. He was a long-time member and former President of the Benton Country Club. During his time as President, Jeff played a significant role in expanding the golf course and the addition of the back nine holes. Above all else, Jeff loved his family deeply, though his grandchildren always held an extra special place in his heart.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Wiseman of Benton; his two sons, James “Blake” Wiseman (Lauren) of Benton and Colby Wiseman (Amanda) of Benton; two sisters, Debbie Anderson (Terry) of Benton and Kim Smith of Benton; sister-in-law, Karen Porter of Benton; his five grandchildren, Millie Wiseman, James “Riley” Wiseman, Owen Wiseman, Lincoln Wiseman, and Linden Wiseman; and his mother, Ernestine Wiseman.

He was preceded in death by his father, James “Jimmy” Wiseman; his fraternal grandparents, James Hart Wiseman and Helen Witt; and maternal grandparents, Willard DePriest and Margaret DePriest.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Heart Association, 240 Whittington Parkway, Louisville, Kentucky 40222, or to Network of Hope, 10301 Linn Station Road, Louisville, KY 40223.
