James Ronald Castleberry

James Ronald Castleberry, age 65, of Benton, Kentucky,  passed away on August 22, 2026, at his home. He was born on January 24, 1961, in Murray, Kentucky, to the late Billy Ray Castleberry and Margaret Castleberry Higgins.
 
James made his living as a self-employed carpenter and drywall hanger, a trade in which he took great pride. He worked all over the country, including in Louisiana, Texas, Iowa, and West Virginia, and his skill and dedication earned him the respect of those who knew him professionally. He approached his work with a steady hand and a dependable spirit, and he was known for doing the job right. His craftsmanship reflected the kind of man he was, practical, hardworking, and committed to excellence in all that he did.
 
Beyond his work, James was a man who valued companionship and community. He was an honorary member of the VFW, an association that held special meaning for him. He especially loved spending time with his friends at the post, where he found fellowship, laughter, and a sense of belonging. Those moments were among the ones he cherished most, and the friendships he formed there were an important part of his life.

James is survived by his two brothers, Ray Castleberry of Cunningham, Kentucky, and Roger (Dee) Higgins of Indiana; and two nephews, William Castleberry and Bobby Higgins.
 
He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Brenda Castleberry; and his parents.
