Janice Stahl Devine, 84, of Calvert City, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026, at the Ray & Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah.

Janice was born on July 13, 1941, in Benton, Kentucky, to the late Clarence Wilson Stahl and Georgie Geneva Stahl Brown. Janice's life was a testament to her unwavering kindness, loving nature, and generous spirit.

After graduating from North Marshall High School in 1959, Janice attended Draughon’s Business College in Paducah. She later began a lifelong career as a Postmaster for the United States Postal Service in Calvert City, where she served for many years before retiring. As a Christian woman, Janice’s Baptist faith and family always guided her throughout her life.

Beyond her devotion to family and faith, Janice had a variety of hobbies and interests. She was an avid fan and supporter of the Marshall County Girls’ Basketball team and the University of Kentucky Basketball. Janice would often find peace by sitting down and spending hours working on puzzles, or by taking time to enjoy the tranquility of her back porch as she watched deer wandering through her backyard. She loved travelling and was always willing to take the next trip or adventure at a moment's notice. Her kind heart and generous personality always led her to find ways to volunteer her time. Whether she was driving family or friends to the doctor or to run errands, or volunteering at the Carson Center in Paducah, Janice loved offering to help others however she could. She also played a pivotal role in helping to form the Calvert City Historical Society, where she always loved spending time locating artifacts to add to the collection.

Her passion for sewing and quilting was undoubtedly one of her favorite hobbies, which allowed her to express her creativity and attention to detail. As an active member of several sewing and quilting groups, she found joy in gathering with others to share their talents and beautiful works of art. More than anything else, Janice loved her family deeply and cherished every moment she spent surrounded by them.

She is survived by her two sons, Mark Devine (Cynthia) of Calvert City and Todd Devine (Marlene) of Calvert City; her four grandchildren, Ryan Devine (Allison), Tyler Devine (Cheyenne), Garrett Devine, and Travis Watkins (Kendall); her five great-grandchildren, Gavin Devine, Eastin Devine, Madelynn Devine, Lucas Devine, and Bentley Kline; several nieces and nephews; her former husband, Jerry Devine of Calvert City; her companion, Cecil Moore of Possum Trot; and many special close friends.

She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Charles Stahl and John “Buddy” Stahl; and her parents, Clarence Wilson Stahl and Georgie Geneva Stahl Brown.
