Jerry Don Cloud, age 79, of Palma, KY, passed away July 12, 2026, at Calvert City Nursing & Rehab. Born December 6, 1946, to the late Ray and Rose (Pugh) Cloud, Jerry left behind a lifetime of faith and devotion to his family, church, and community. He was a simple man who never sought recognition, finding his greatest joy in serving the Lord and investing in the people he loved most.
A faithful member of Zion's Cause Baptist Church, Jerry lived out his faith every day. He found immense joy in gospel music and could often be heard on Sunday mornings singing along to his favorite groups, including the Gold City Quartet, The Florida Boys, and J.D. Sumner and the Stamps. Sundays were his favorite days worshiping at church, followed by good food and fellowship at the local Cracker Barrel, where he was a familiar face. Jerry also had a servant's heart for children, proudly coaching Upward Basketball and serving during Vacation Bible School.
Jerry proudly worked through the Laborers' Union with Pip Johnson Construction and spent 27 years in the equipment rental industry. Respected across the tri-state area for his loyalty and dependability, he accumulated an impressive collection of hats over the years that beautifully reflected the many friendships he made throughout his career.
Affectionately known as the "Mayor of Palma," Jerry lived in the community his entire life and never met a stranger. He loved to sit on his porch, tell stories, and make people laugh, always making others feel welcome and valued.
Above all, his family was his world. He was a loyal supporter of Marshall County athletics, cheering on the "Big Orange." He cherished memories as a proud "Band Dad," attending rodeos, horse shows, and classic car shows. Nothing brought him greater happiness than watching his grandchildren play football, baseball, and softball. Whatever his children or grandchildren were involved in, Jerry was always on the sidelines cheering.
He is survived by his son, Jerry Jay (Amy) Cloud of Lancaster, KY; daughter, Jill (Shane) Darnall of Benton, KY; and grandchildren, Griffin Darnall, Kendall Cloud, Houston Cloud, and Gracelyn Darnall.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Zion's Cause Baptist Church Building Fund, 1532 US-68, Benton, KY 42025.
