Jimmy Pierce, 81, of Calvert City, KY passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at his home.

Jimmy was born in McCracken County on March 22, 1941 to the late Howard and Martha Dees Pierce. Jimmy was 20 years old when he knew that he had met the love of his life, Velda Powell. Knowing that he wanted to spend the rest of his life together with her, Jimmy and Velda snuck away one night to Shawnee Town, IL to get married. On the night of August 15, 1961 Jimmy and Velda were married and they spent the next 61 years together growing their family.

Jimmy spent many years working as an auto mechanic for various places before eventually going to work for himself and opening the Calvert City Auto Clinic. He had a love for cars, especially Volkswagens. Over the years he enjoyed working on cars along with restoring and building them. He took great pride in his auto work and always loved attending car shows to admire other vehicles and display his own work. When he wasn’t working on cars Jimmy also loved collecting guns and over time had built up quite the collection. Jimmy was also known for being a beautiful bass singer and spent time singing as a member of the Neighbor’s Quartet. More than anything else Jimmy loved his family and God. He was a member of Altona Baptist Church.

He survived by his wife of 61 years, Velda Powell Pierce; one daughter, Lydia Hagan (Tim) of Calvert City; two sons, Weldon Pierce (Susan) of Calvert City and Brad Pierce (Angie) of Calvert City; two brothers, Herman Pierce (Pam) of Paducah and Freddie Pierce (Christine) of Sharpe; seven grandchildren, Johnny York, Curtis Pierce, Darren Pierce, Brittany Collins, Justin Hagan, Kaitlin Lindsey, and Emily Pierce; and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded by two sisters, Frances Burkeen and Betty Rednour; one brother, Howard Pierce Jr.; one great grandson, Steven Pierce; and his parents.
