Joanne Johnson, passed away peacefully at the age of 79 on April 4, 2024, at Lakeway Nursing and Rehabilitation in Benton.

Born on November 20, 1944, in Paducah, Kentucky, as a daughter to Clemmie "Tim" Gamble and Juanita Gibson, with the latter marrying Delmer "Dale" Melton. Her path in life led her to a loving marriage with the late William Roy "Willy" Johnson, with whom she shared both the joys and challenges life had to offer.

Throughout her career, Joanne served her community with dedication, working tirelessly in restaurants as a waitress and sharing her knowledge at Shawnee Plastics in Kuttawa for nine years. She was not just an employee but a teacher, imparting valuable skills in cashier training, computer literacy, and more to those eager to learn. Joanne treasured the simple pleasure of fishing, took joy in feeding every stray cat and dog she met, and delighted in her collections of glassware, cookbooks, and model cars.

Joanne is lovingly remembered by her adoring children, Tammy Bentle of Ashland, KY; Bryan (Stephanie) Edwards of Benton, and David Edwards of Grand Rivers; sisters, Kay (Bobby) Riley, Rosie (Terry) Moore, Vicky Gamble, and brothers Jimmy and Timmy Gamble, all of Mayfield. She loved her five grandchildren, Sabrina Prusinski, Annessia Lindsey, Zachary Edwards, Danielle Bliss, and Carl James Moegling, and seven great-grandchildren.

Joanne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, her father, mother, step-father, two sisters, Linda Davis and Donna Dixon, a brother Joe Gamble, as well as Louis and Bryant Gibson who helped raise her with love.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at the Life Celebration Center of Filbeck-Cann, 1003 Poplar Street, Benton, KY 42445 with Dave Morrison, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Marshall County Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at the Life Celebration Center of Filbeck-Cann, 1003 Poplar Street, Benton, KY 42445.
