Norma D. Nimmo, 86, of Benton, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Oakview Nursing Home in Calverty City.

Norma was born on November 1, 1939, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late James Wilkins and Melba Crass Wilkins. She was a hardworking woman whose life was guided by her faith, her love for her family, and her dedication to serving others.

Norma left a lasting impression on everyone she met. A pillar of her community, she devoted countless years to supporting local youth, serving her church, and caring for others through her career at Marshall County Hospital. Her kindness, generosity, and willingness to help others touched many lives throughout the years.

After her two children had grown, Norma began working in admissions at Marshall County Hospital, where she faithfully served for 25 years before retiring. She was an active member of Hardin Church of Christ, where she was always eager to volunteer and find ways to serve her church family. Her commitment to her community extended beyond the church, as she served as President of the Benton Elementary PTA and as a Girl Scout troop leader. She was also instrumental in helping establish Marshall County Girls Softball more than 55 years ago, leaving a lasting legacy for generations of young girls.

Outside of her many commitments, Norma enjoyed life's simple pleasures. She loved spending quiet days outdoors fishing or tending to her garden, relaxing with a good book, and preparing meals to share with friends and family. She also had a love for travel, whether setting up camp for a weekend getaway or heading to the mountains or beach with loved ones. Wherever her adventures took her, Norma treasured the opportunity to spend time with those she loved and create memories that would last a lifetime.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Mercy Health Lourdes Hospice, 1530 Lone Oak Road, Paducah, Kentucky 42003.

She is survived by her daughter, Lydia Jo York (Ricky) of the Olive Community; one son, Jeff Nimmo (Terri) of Benton;  two granddaughters, Leah York Smothers (Kenneth) of the Olive Community and Ashley Nimmo of Benton; one great-grandson, Kaeden Smothers; her sister, Carol Holland of Benton; and her sister-in-law, Sherry Wilkins.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Joe D. Nimmo; three brothers, Doyle Wilkins, Gary Wilkins, and Hollis Wilkins; and her parents, James A. Wilkins and Melba Crass Wilkins.
