Ollie J. Edwards, 100, of Benton, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026, at Lake Way Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Ollie was born in Benton, Kentucky, on August 4, 1925, to the late John Wesley Tubbs and Cora Mae Clark Tubbs. Ollie lived a life marked by kindness, devotion to her faith, and love for her family and friends.
For many years, Ollie served her community with a warm, welcoming smile as a cashier at Walmart, where she enjoyed talking to and meeting new people during her workday. As a long-time member of Fairdealing Church of Christ and a devoted Christian, Ollie’s faith always guided her throughout her life. Beyond her work and faith, Ollie was an active member of the Fairdealing Homemakers Club, where she formed many close friendships with other members while gathering together. She had a variety of hobbies, such as crocheting and coloring, which allowed her to use her creativity and artistic abilities to create works of art to share with her family and friends. As an avid Bingo player, Ollie never missed the opportunity to gather with others and share in the laughter and excitement of the game.
Above all, Ollie valued her family. She was the epitome of a loving and caring individual, always putting the needs of her loved ones before her own. Her presence was a comforting embrace, her advice a guiding light, and her love a constant in the lives of those she touched.
She is survived by her two daughters, Bonita Edwards and Laverne Malone both of Benton; her son, Keith Mitchell Edwards; seven grandchildren, Pam Griffith (Tony), Paula Burdette (Jimmie), Bobby Johnston (Jennifer), Jay Michael Edwards (Kim), Wesley Edwards, Amanda Pittman Cherry (Cody), and Luke Edwards (Hailey); twelve great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, James V. Edwards; one daughter, Carol Edwards; two sisters, Claudine Potter and Novalee Tubbs; one brother, Rex Tubbs; and her parents, John Wesley Tubbs and Cora Mae Tubbs.
