Patty Murray Galloway, 82, of Benton, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2026, leaving behind a life marked by love, faith, and devotion to her family and friends.
Patty was born on April 28, 1943, in Eddyville, Kentucky, to the late Reese Murray and Juanita Wells Murray. Patty grew up with the values of hard work, kindness, and perseverance that would guide her throughout her life. She graduated from Lyon County High School in the early 1960s and carried the lessons of her upbringing with her into every chapter that followed.
For many years, Patty worked as a Medical Transcriptionist at St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart, Indiana, where she took great pride in her work and was known for her dependability and attention to detail. Later in life, she embraced her role as a stay-at-home mother and wife, a role she cherished deeply. Her home was a place of care, comfort, and support, where she generously dedicated herself to those she loved.
Patty was a long-time member of Pleasant Grove Church in Benton, where her faith remained an important part of her life. She sang in the choir and found joy in sharing her love of music with her church family. Music was one of her greatest passions, and her voice and spirit added beauty to the lives of those around her. Patty enjoyed shopping for purses or shoes, which she had collected quite a few of throughout the years, and traveling with friends and family, which always brought her happiness. Above all else, Patty treasured her family, and her love for them was evident in the way she lived each day. She found joy in the simple and meaningful moments of life, and she will be remembered for the care she gave, the encouragement she offered, and the strength she shared with those closest to her.
She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Bob Galloway; her son, Eric Roth (Gina) of New Hampshire; her step-daughter, Sandy Huk (Dan) of Valparaiso, IN; her step-son, Robert Galloway, Jr.; two sisters, Sharon Choate (Eddie) of Benton and Judy Moore (Steve) of Benton; one brother, Don Murray (Rita) of Paducah; seven grandchildren, Jake Roth, Alex Jewel, Brianna Marshall, George Geren, Stephanie Dupont, Cassie Ratigan, and Siobhan Galloway; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Yvonne Gray; two step-daughters, Debbie Galloway and Pam Viater; and her parents, Reese and Jaunita Murray.
