Teddye Combs Thompson, passed away on December 22, 2025, on her 80th birthday, in Tallahassee, Florida.
Teddye grew up in Benton, Kentucky, and graduated from Benton High School in 1964. After high school, she lived in both California and Michigan before returning to Benton in 1980. At the age of 35, Teddye attended Murray State University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Accounting and went on to become a Certified Public Accountant.
In 1999, Teddye, her mother and sister Suzanne relocated to Evansville, Indiana, where Teddye lived for the next 24 years before retiring to Florida with her sister. Teddye lived a full life and was a woman who knew what she enjoyed. She loved singing, especially to the Bee Gees, spending time with dogs, road trips, exercising, and the beautiful beaches of Florida. She was particularly fond of a pod of wild dolphins that lived in Apalachicola Bay, just south of Tallahassee, and took great pleasure in knowing they were nearby.
Teddye also loved going out to dinner, with seafood being a personal favorite. Whether enjoying a meal, taking a road trip, listening to music, or watching dolphins along the Florida coast, she found joy in her life and her accomplishments.
Those who knew Teddye will remember her as someone who was well-liked, hardworking, and steadfast in her principles. She was a person who believed in “doing the right thing” and could be a stickler for making sure things were done properly. She worked hard and remained true to her beliefs.
Teddye leaves behind a life marked by determination, independence, hard work, and a love of adventure. She will be remembered by those who knew and loved her for her strong character, her straightforward nature, and the many things that brought her happiness throughout her 80 years.
May she rest peacefully, with the Florida sunshine, the sound of the ocean, and perhaps a few dolphins keeping watch.
She is survived by one sister, Suzanne Combs Perrey of Tallahassee, Florida.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Davis Combs and William Combs; and her parents, Elmer and Ruth Jones Combs.
A graveside memorial will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at the Benton Cemetery.
