Gerald Swanson

Mr. Gerald V. Swanson, 88, of Murray, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at Parkview Nursing and Rehab in Paducah

Mr. Swanson was born on December 30, 1934 in Moline, IL to the late Carl Swanson and Shirley Sweet Swanson.  Gerald taught history for 20 years at Woodrow Wilson Junior High in Moline, IL. In addition, he worked in sales for ten years with National Manufacturing in Sterling, IL and served as the County Clerk in Hannah Township for five years in Geneseo, IL.  

Gerald loved birding, being in the outdoors and antique cars.  After moving to Murray, KY he  enjoyed Kentucky Lake activities and sightseeing.  Gerald was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Murray.  

He is preceded in death by his parents and a half sister, Diane Swanson Morell.

Those left to cherish many wonderful memories include his loving wife of 66 years, Mrs. Nancy Swanson of Murray; daughters, Kim Scott (Ira) of Almo, Denise Swanson of  Eugene, OR; half brother, Ronald Swanson; half sister, Vernette Swanson and two grandchildren.

A private family funeral will be held at the Heritage Chapel of Imes Funeral Home on Friday, December 22, 2023 with Jim Stahler officiating and entombment will follow at Murray Memorial Gardens.
