Barbara Ann Perry

Barbara Ann Perry, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2024, at the age of 85, surrounded by her family in their Sanger, Texas home.

Born on June 4, 1938, Barbara was one of five children of Thomas and Inez Hatley. Her siblings were Lloyd Hatley, Jewell Hatley, Alice (Hatley) Turner, and Yvonne Hatley. She graduated from the Arlington High School. Barbara married Buddy Perry on August 20, 1955, in Corinth, Mississippi. They went on to have four children: Cathy (Troy) Stubblefield of Paducah, KY, Greg Perry (deceased), Karen (Michael) Durham of Sanger, TX., and Jeff (Theresa) Perry of Fancy Farm, KY. 

Barbara worked for 30 years for Hockers Grocery and Appliances in Arlington, Ky. She retired in 2000 and moved in with her daughter, Karen, and family to help with the youngest child, who was handicapped. For fourteen years, she was instrumental in the home and then, in 2014, suffered entire blindness due to mini-strokes. Nevertheless, she was still an inspiration as she learned to trust the Lord’s plan for her life. Before her blindness, she was a Sunday School teacher and very active in her church, Oak Grove Baptist Church in Paducah, KY, where she was a member. 

In 2018, she, along with her family, moved to the area of Denton, Texas, where she remained until her death. She became involved in her church, Providence Chapel in Denton. Many have expressed how her joyfulness and faithfulness in her handicap served as an inspiration. She deeply loved the Lord Jesus and professed Him to be her only hope in life and death. 

She had eight grandchildren Shelby (Leigh Ann) Durham, Joseph (Chandi) Durham, Victorian Durham, Krysten Timmons, April (Billy) McDonnell, Amber Perry, Amanda (Matt) O’Conner, Matthew (Callie) Perry. Barbara also had four great-grandchildren: Brogan Bunch, Gabe Thweat, Logan Durham, and Michaela Durham.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Buddy Perry, and son, Greg Perry.

Her funeral service will be conducted at Hughes Funeral Home, Paducah, KY, on Friday, March 22, 2024. Public visitation will be between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m., with the service beginning at noon. She will be interred at Berkley Cemetery, Berkley, KY.
