Billy Ray Rushing, 70, of Paducah, passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at Baptist Health Paducah.

Billy was a retired welder, having worked for Walker Boat Yard, and was a member of Southland Baptist Temple in Paducah.

A few of his joys in life were fishing, woodworking, camping, spending time with his family at the cabin, and watching his granddaughter, Carly, at color guard competitions. He was a great mechanic and through the years taught his sons Jason and Brandon how to be equally great at fixing everything and improving things, even when they weren't broken.

He was a master fudge maker and was responsible for spreading diabetes to all of his loved ones every Christmas without fail! Most amazingly, he was a quiet romantic. In their 41 years of marriage, he always made sure to unlock and open every door for his wife, Patti, and also pumped every tank of gas. He did all of these things quietly and without broadcasting it, out of the pure love that he had for his family.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Patti (Ford) Rushing of Paducah; two sons, Eric Jason “Jrod” Rushing (Christel) of Kevil, and Brandon Scott “Boo” Rushing (Allison) of Paducah; one brother, Wayne Rushing (Donna) of Paducah; two sisters, Karen Crosby (Dean) of Gatlinburg, TN, and Diane Rushing of Huntsville, AL; five grandchildren, Carly Ann Rushing, Bre Rushing, Ty Gish, Ryan Hall, and Alexis Gish; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray E. and Betty J. Rushing; three sisters, Glenda Rushing, Cathy Bounds, and Vicky Rushing; and two brothers, Ray Rushing, Jr. and Michael Rushing.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Hughes Funeral Home in Paducah with Michael Wood and Brandon Rushing officiating. Burial will follow at Fooks Cemetery in Benton.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to service time Saturday at the funeral home.
