David Gerald Petterson, 78, of Boaz, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Baptist Health Paducah.
David joined the United States Marine Corps and served in Vietnam for 8 years. He was honorably discharged as a Staff Sgt. He returned to Paducah and helped his father run A to Z Antiques. He joined Paducah Police Department, where he retired after 20 years of service. He was an avid antique hunter who would daily buy and sell antiques, while still running A to Z Antiques and Collectibles.
He was a proud father and grandfather (Papa) to those who knew him and a friend to many. He loved nothing more than taking his family out to eat weekly and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by one son, David Gerald Petterson II (Christy) of Atlanta, GA; one daughter, Cheryl Renae Petterson (Bradley) of Boaz; and four grandchildren, Alexandra, Emmett, Gabriella, and Annabella Petterson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lexine (Heathcock) Petterson; and one brother, Chuck Petterson.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
