Gregory L. Nichols, age 72, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 28, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Greg was born in Paducah, Kentucky, to Barbara Borders and was raised in the community he would call home throughout his life. He attended Tilghman High School and later pursued a career in technology and was an entrepreneur. This work reflected his sharp intellect, natural curiosity, and commitment to lifelong learning.
Greg enjoyed a distinguished career as a computer consultant and was a founding member of Computer Source and GNL Group. He was known for his dependability, problem-solving ability, and willingness to help others—qualities that earned him both professional respect and lasting friendships.
Outside of work, Greg lived life fully. He was a member of the Paducah Bass Club, a hunting club in Canada, and proudly served as President of the Board of Directors at Rolling Hills Country Club. He had a passion for cars, golf, fishing, hunting, traveling, and military history, and he found peace working on his farm. He dearly loved his dog and cherished time spent with the people closest to him.
Above all, Greg was a devoted son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a steady presence for his family, a true pillar of support, and he was generous with both his time and resources. Greg had a habit of brightening everyday moments, whether by lending a helping hand or showing up with donuts at the places he frequented. Known for his quick wit and easy humor, Greg could strike up a conversation with anyone—and once he got going, you might want to settle in, because it was likely to last awhile.
Greg is survived by his daughter, Brandy Nolan (Rick), and his beloved granddaughter, Emma Nolan. He is also survived by his mother, Barbara Borders, his sister Paula Cramer, his uncle Billy Joe Keeling, longtime friend Amy Sawyers and her son Jamie, and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Owda Borders, his grandparents Wilson and Josie Keeling.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Hughes Funeral Home in Paducah with Pastor James Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery in Paducah.
