Kevin Thompson Hite, 62, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on August 2, 1962, and raised in Owensboro, Kentucky, Kevin lived a life full of love, generosity, and laughter. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Whether through sharing a story, lending a hand, or simply being there, Kevin made life better for the people around him.

He spent much of his professional life as Director of IT for UPG and later for Patti’s 1880s Settlement. He was known for his strong work ethic, dependability, and the genuine friendships he developed with his colleagues over the years.

Outside of work, Kevin lived for what mattered most: time spent with his family and friends. He filled his days with the things he loved. Whether it was cruising on the lake with Penny and their beloved dog, Sami; weekends grilling for his family while enjoying a bonfire and good music; evenings spent in Nashville with friends cheering on the Preds and the Titans, or just relaxing on the beach at sunset— Kevin knew how to find the fun in life.

A lifetime dog lover, Kevin had a gentle nature and kind spirit that animals instinctively trusted. It brings comfort and a smile to imagine all the happy, wagging tails that were surely there to greet him at Heaven’s gates.

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Penny Hite; his daughters, Ashley Hite and Emily (Eric) Matt; his son, Zachary Hite; his beloved grandchildren, Briana, Jordan, and Jocelyn; his brother, Jeff Hite; and his sister, Tricia Hite.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Hite, and his mother, Mary Anne Long.

A viewing followed by a memorial service to celebrate Kevin’s life will be held at Hughes Funeral Home located at 2975 Old Husbands Road in Paducah, KY

on Wednesday, July 30th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The service will be led by his dear friend, Joe Craft.

Though his life was far too short, Kevin lived it fully and beautifully. His absence leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who loved him, but his memory will live on in every story retold and every laugh shared.

In honor of Kevin, please consider making a donation to the McCracken County Humane Society (mccrackenhumane.org) or the Owensboro Humane Society (owensborohumane.org).
