Gene Peck, raised as Gene Hurt, 88, of Paducah, passed away on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Baptist Health Paducah.
Gene, along with his wife Carolyn, owned and operated Peck’s Market in the Farley community of Paducah for 50 years (1959 – 2008). Gene was a veteran of the US Marines, having served during peacetime, earning the rank of Private First Class. He was a long time active member of Oaklawn Baptist Church in Paducah.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Carolyn (Spees) Peck of Paducah; one son, Blaine Peck of Friendswood, TX; one daughter, Jill Pendergraff (Rick) of Mortons Gap, KY; three grandchildren, Austin Starks (Rachel), Benjamin Peck, and Christina McNelis (Colin); two great grandchildren, Adley Starks and Charlotte McNelis; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Euel Blaine Hurt and Alice Hurt; two sisters, Jessie Lewis Peck and Jo Lee (Peck) Taylor; and two brothers, James and Jack Peck.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Oaklawn Baptist Church in Paducah with Pastor Jarry Merritt officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Paducah.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Hughes Funeral Home in Paducah, and from 11:00 am to service time Wednesday at Oaklawn Baptist Church.
