Phyllis Ann (Sheible) Hargis, 89, of West Paducah, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Metropolis Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Metropolis, IL.
Phyllis was an RN and worked for both Lourdes Hospital and Baptist Health Paducah during her career. She was an active member and volunteer at Heartland Church in Paducah, and an active member of Balcoky Bowhunters Club of West Paducah. She also loved fishing with her husband before his passing.
She is survived by one son, Donald Lee Hargis (Milly) of Mayfield; one daughter, Sara Lynn (Hargis) Peeler (Jimmy) of Paducah; two sisters, Elaine Evers (Jon) and Sue Garrett (John) of Percy, IL; four grandchildren, Wes Sullenger (Tonya) of Paducah, Jake Hargis (Angie), Alica Hargis, and Cody Peeler (Shery); and four great grandchildren, Sage Hargis, Sayer Katzenberger, Bowie Katzenberger, and Elijah Peeler.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Albert Leon Hargis; parents, Woodrow and Cora (Moore) Sheible; four brothers, Ronnie Sheible, Dick Sheible, Carl Sheible, and Jimmy Sheible; and one sister, Francis Taylor.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Hughes Funeral Home in Paducah with Pastor Jeremiah Ross officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Paducah.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
