Ruth (Elaine) Stroud, 91, of Paducah, passed away on March 19, 2026, at Baptist Health Paducah.
Elaine was born in Bardwell, Kentucky on March 22,1934. She spent her life rooted in love, strength, and family. Elaine graduated from Lone Oak High School. She dedicated many years of her life to JCpenney, where she was known for her outstanding customer service, earning numerous awards for her dedication, kindness, and genuine care. She later retired from JCPenney after many years of service.
Elaine was a faithful member of West End Baptist Church, where her presence reflected her quiet strength, kindness, and devotion.
She had a deep love for fashion, with a special appreciation for clothes and jewelry. No matter the occasion, Elaine was always dressed and ready, carrying herself with elegance and confidence. It was simply who she was—someone who took pride in herself and expressed it beautifully.
Above all, Elaine cherished her family. She shared a deep and meaningful bond with her grandchildren, caring for them with a gentle and nurturing spirit. She gave them the space to truly be children, allowing them to grow, explore, and thrive, while surrounding them with unwavering love and support.
She is survived by her son, Todd Stroud and wife, Tammy, of Paducah; two grandchildren, Brandon Stroud and Loura Stroud of Paducah; two great-grandchildren, Gavin Stroud and Hayden Stroud; her sister, Anna Cooper of Paducah, Kentucky; along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Omer Hayden Stroud; her parents, Lester and Bertha Moore; her sisters, Mary, Ella, Katheryne, and Glenda; and her brothers, James, Alfred, and Neilon.
She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to live on through her family and all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Hughes Funeral Home in Paducah with Rev. Todd Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow at Hampton Cemetery in Hampton, KY.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to service time Friday at the funeral home.
