Shirley Ann Myre, a Paducah resident for 62.4 years, but was staying with her daughter in Hickory, KY for the last 6 months, passed away on February 10, 2026, at 9:20 AM, from complications due to her lung condition.
During her 1 year, 4-month health issues, she barely complained about much. But two weeks prior, Shirley became so ill she could barely walk and needed help getting from one place to another. Shirley was in the care of Hospice before she passed. The family wishes to thank the special team for all they have done for her, especially her favorite nurse, Mary Ann, and social worker, Payton.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 63 years, James (AKA her Jimmy) Myre; her two daughters, Sharon New (Randy) of Paducah and Mary VanVactor (Brian) of Hickory; four grandchildren, Kameron VanVactor (Olivia), Faith Barnes, Mackinze Martin (James), and Preston VanVactor; and two great grandchildren, Brealynn Barnes and Kayson VanVactor.
Shirley was preceded in death by her mother, Lula Horton, and one sister.
A graveside service was held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, February 12, 2026, at the request of Shirley and her wishes.
