Mr. Andrew "Jackie" Burkeen, 91, of Murray, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2026 at Spring Creek Healthcare in Murray.
Jackie was born on April 27, 1934, in Calloway County to the late Barnes and Ola Hopkins Burkeen.
A standout athlete in his youth, he made his mark as a basketball star at Almo High School. It was during those years that his beloved wife, the late Shirley Ann, cheered him on from the sidelines.
Jackie served his country in the United States Army.  After his military service, he returned home to Murray and built a respected career as a building contractor. Through decades of hard work, he literally helped shape the community he loved.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Shirley Ann Burkeen; three brothers, J.B. Burkeen, Johnny Burkeen, Barnes Ray; three sisters, Euple Lee, Mary Outland and Pauline Crotzer.
He lovingly leaves behind two children, Mitchel Burkeen (Tonya) of  Murray, Jill Burkeen of Murray; one sister, Ola Mae James of Nashville, TN; five grandchildren, Whitney Hancock (John), Jack Burkeen, Allen Moore, Allison Wells, Austin Wells; and six great grandchildren, Finn Hancock, Emma Moore, Brooklyn Powell, Maeleigh Wells, Kynleigh Wells and Oakley Wells.
