James Dan" Steely

Mr. James "Dan" Steely, 81, of Murray, formerly of Nashville, TN, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2026 at his home.  

Dan was born on October 26, 1944 in Murray, KY to the late Aubrey and Ruby (Boggess) Steely.  He earned his Bachelor's degree from Murray State and went on to pursue his Master's degree from Indiana University.  

He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Gene Steely and one sister, Shirley Darnell.  

He is survived by one niece, Cindy Vaughn of Murray.

A private burial will take place at Murray City Cemetery.
