Jennifer Anne Laughlin

Jennifer Anne Laughlin, 46, passed away on November 6th, 2023, in the arms of her mother at Murray-Calloway County Hospital.

Lovable and frustrating, ladylike and unmannerly, blunt and tactful, Jennifer was a study in contrasts who touched the lives of everyone she met. Jennifer was a giver, putting the needs of others well before her own. This took a toll on her in many forms, most often at the cost of her own well-being. For many years, Jennifer fought a battle with alcoholism- a battle she eventually lost.

But that is not how Jennifer would have us remember her. She would want us to remember the times she made us feel like the only person in the room, the times we felt a depth of love that only she could provide. She would want us to remember the silly voices, stupid jokes, and the snort she did when she laughed hard. She would want us to remember she kept a clean house, and that the only way she could eat grilled chicken was if it was burned and drowned in barbeque sauce. She would want us to remember that despite her personal struggles, she loved others more than she loved herself. She would want us to remember that she absolutely believed her greatest accomplishment was her son, Timothy. She would want us to remember that she made peace with God through Jesus Christ.

Jennifer. Jabber. Nerf. Wife. Daughter. Sister. Mom. Friend. That is how she would want us to remember her.

Jennifer is survived by her husband Matthew and his two daughters, Emily and Abby; her parents, Pam and Vern Miller and Hap and Rene Bierds; brothers Sam, Eric, Taylor, and Michael and sister Amy; her grandfather Bill Thornton; nieces and nephews; and most importantly her son Timothy Merriman, of whom she thought the entire world of. Jennifer is also survived by the countless people who will carry her memory through this walk of life.

A memorial service will be held at Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Mayfield, Kentucky, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 10th.
