It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Joanne Lee Harper, age 87, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, friend, who died on October 22, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Joanne was born on October 8, 1939, in Oak Park, IL to the late Donald and Josephine Cartland. She built a life full of family, faith, work, service and creativity.

She was the epitome of a gracious hostess, always making others feel welcome and at home. Her generosity knew no bounds, and she found immense joy in giving to others, especially her beloved grandchildren, whom she delighted in spoiling every chance she had. A hardworking and accomplished businesswoman, she worked as a bookkeeper for many years, served as a nursing home administrator, and owned and operated both an industrial soap company and a bed and breakfast. Her entrepreneurial spirit, strong work ethic, and natural ability to connect with people were evident in all she pursued. In her leisure time, she was an avid bridge player who enjoyed the fellowship, friendly competition, and lasting friendships the game brought into her life. Her love of beautiful homes, treasured finds, family gatherings, and the little joys in life will be remembered by all who knew her. Above all, she leaves behind a family who loved her deeply and will miss her dearly.

Mrs. Harper was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Thomas Edward Harper of Clinton, KY, as well as two brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by her two daughters, Jody Morgan (David), Monica Wright (Jan); her six grandchildren, McKenna Karasek, Lindsay Syme, Ezra Morgan, Leah Von Kreman, Elan Wright and spouses; and Baella Morgan. Her great-grandchildren, Luna and Abraham, as well as her oldest brother and youngest sister.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2:30 PM on November 14, 2026, at First United Methodist Church in Clinton, KY. A private family burial will take place at the Clinton Cemetery.

A public visitation will be held from 2 PM until the service hour.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to First United Methodist Church Outreach Fund, 210 S Washington St., Clinton, KY 42031.
