Mrs. Annie Ruth Hogan-King, lovingly known as “GiGi” to her grandchildren and loved ones,
was born on August 14, 1948, in Centerville, Mississippi, to James Hogan Sr. and Anna Maci
O’Bryant-Hogan. She was the sixth child and the first daughter in a family of six brothers
and three sisters.
Annie graduated from Soldan High School in St. Louis, Missouri. She continued her
education at the University of Saint Louis, where she earned a diploma in computer
programming, and at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she received a
certification in the same field.
In 1972, Annie moved to Chicago, Illinois, and worked for several years as a keypunch
operator, entering data and programs into early computers. She later moved to Cairo,
Illinois, in 1979 and worked for Tri-Con in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, for many years, until
the company closed. In the early 2000s, she began working as a cook for Ingram Barge. She
retired in 2016.
Throughout her life, Annie built a life centered on family, faith, work, service, and
community. She was known for her creativity and found joy in arts and crafts. The holidays
were especially meaningful to her because they gave her time with family. She also enjoyed
one of her favorite destinations: the Dollar Tree.
On October 2, 2026, Mrs. Annie Ruth Hogan-King passed away peacefully in the privacy
and comfort of her home in Reidland, Kentucky.
Annie was preceded in death by her parents, James and Anna Hogan Sr.; her husband,
Alfred King; her brothers David E. Hogan, Willie Morris Hogan, John Hogan Sr., Freddy Lee
Hogan, and Tommy Lee Hogan Sr.; her sister America Ann Newing; and her grandson Tyrone
E. Foxworth II.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Mrs. Kelley K. Foxworth (Tyrone) of Caine
Ridge, Tennessee; her sons, Mr. Richard B. Greene Sr. of Reidland, Kentucky, and Mr.
Trinidad H. Martin Sr. of Paducah, Kentucky; her grandsons, Mr. Stanley D. Crume Jr. and
Mr. Richard B. Greene II; and her granddaughters, Sidney S. Crume, Whitney S. Eggleston
(Justin), JaNae S. Foxworth, Mariah R. Greene, and Rosa E. Greene. Great grandsons Adrian
B. Holman, Dru R Crume, Santino Eggleston , Great granddaughter Cayani D. Wiggins
She is also survived by her brother, Mr. James Hogan Jr. (Genell); her sister, Mrs. Gloria D.
Lloyd (John); Host of nephews, nieces and cousins. Her dear friend, Mrs. Debra Hill Spillers. Her family and loved ones will forever hold close the memories of her warmth, creativity, and devotion.
Funeral services will be at 12:00pm on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Lindsey Funeral Home with the Rev. Connie Martin Webb officiating.
Friends may visit the family from 10:00am to service hour on Saturday at the funeral home.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, October 19, 2026, at the Mound’s City National Cemetery in Mounds, IL. Friends are asked to meet directly at the cemetery.
