Charles Raymond Davis Sr. of 1008 Martin Luther King Jr. Dr., Paducah, KY departed this life on Sunday, August 24, 2025. Charles Raymond Davis Sr. was born March 28, 1948, in Warren, Ohio to the parents of Roosevelt and Retha Mae Davis. Charles grew up under the watchful eye of his grandparents Benjamin (Ben) and Rose Anna Rounds. Charles graduated from Warren G Harding High School in 1966. He was on the Warren G. Harding Black Panthers Varsity football team; he played Defensive Tackle and was a three-year Letterman. Charles married Brenda Johnson on April 26, 1973. They had 7 children together. Charles received his Certificate of Accounting from the Gordon D James Career Center in Lordstown, Ohio. He was an AmeriCorps VISTA and worked with McCracken and Ballard County Habitat for humanity helping to secure funds to build houses. Charles graduated from West Kentucky Community and Technical College. He and his wife Brenda were awarded Culinary Art Students of the Year for 2007. Charles owned and operated the C&B Bar-B-Q and Catering with his wife from 2009-2014. Charles was saved and filled with the Holy Ghost under the pastoral leadership of Elder Eli Homan. Charles was ordained an Elder of the Church of God in Christ in July of 1986. He founded and pastored the Miracle Temple Church of God in Christ in Warren, Ohio for ten years. He later pastored The Tabernacle of Faith Church of God in Christ in Paducah, KY for ten years. Elder Charles Davis was a devout pastor, a devout husband and a devout father. He loved preaching and hearing the Word of God. He enjoyed playing the bass guitar, he was a Cleveland Browns fan, and his two favorite foods were pancakes and ice cream. Elder Davis was proud of all his children and grandchildren; they made him so very happy. Charles leaves to mourn his wife, Brenda L. Davis; 6 of his children; Charles Davis Jr. of Nashville, TN, Vanessa Freeman of Columbus, OH, Christopher Davis of Paducah, KY, Eleanor Davis of Columbia, TN, VaRetha Davis of Clarksville, Tn, Joshua Davis of Hopkinsville, KY; 1 Stepdaughter, Valerie Davis of Nashville, Tn; 15 grandchildren; 2 great granddaughters; one brother, Thomas Davis of Warren, OH; one sister, Jessie Marie Oliver of Liberty, OH; and a host of niece’s and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his son, Jason Davis, 1 step granddaughter, 1 sister, 2 brothers, 1 niece and both of his parents. Funeral Services will be at 1:00pm on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Lindsey Funeral Home. Friends may visit the family from 11:00am till service hour.
