John Fred Hartle, affectionately known as Fred by his loved ones and friends, departed this world on February 16, 2026, at the age of 90, in Paducah, Kentucky. Born on June 22, 1935, in the warm community of Mayfield, Kentucky, Fred's life was one marked by dedication, love, and a remarkable ability to brighten the lives of those around him.
Fred was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend. His devotion to his family was without question, a source of strength and comfort. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Norma Hartle, who was both his partner in life's journey and his closest confidant. The legacy of their love is carried on by his two daughters, Lisa Page and Leah Story, who were his pride and joy. Fred's spirit will forever live on through his grandchildren, Trisha Page, Jacob Page, and JoAnn Story Risden, and his adoring great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews who were blessed to know his kind and gentle soul.
For 46 years, Fred was a respected member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), where he not only contributed his skills as an electrician but also built lifelong friendships. His work ethic and integrity were hallmarks of his character, earning him the respect and admiration of his colleagues.
A devout Christian, Fred's faith was a cornerstone of his life. It was this faith that guided him through both prosperous and challenging times, and it was the love and teachings of Christ that he strived to embody each day.
Fred's interests were as rich and diverse as his personality. An avid outdoorsman, he found solace and joy in camping, where he could immerse himself in the tranquility of nature. His hands were rarely still, for when he was not enjoying the great outdoors, he could be found in his garage, masterfully turning wood into beautiful, handcrafted pieces. His talent for woodworking was not merely a hobby but a testament to his patience and attention to detail. Additionally, Fred's passion for aviation was undeniable. He spent countless hours at the airfield, flying his planes with a skill and freedom that mirrored his approach to life.
Those who knew Fred would describe him as loving, wise, and handy—a man who could fix just about anything with a tool in his hand and a smile on his face. His wisdom was often shared through stories and life lessons, and his love was given unconditionally.
Fred's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved him, but his memory will continue to inspire and guide us.
