Julia Ann Vanlandingham

Julia Ann VanLandingham, age 92, of Paducah, Kentucky passed away peacefully on the morning of July 16th, 2026, at Charter Senior Living in Paducah, Kentucky. She was born on May 25th, 1934, in Pulaski, TN, to Everette and Kathaleen Sumners. She graduated from Giles County High School in Pulaski, TN (1951). She graduated from St. Thomas Hospital School of Nursing, Nashville, TN (1954), and Charity Hospital School of Anesthesia in New Orleans, LA (1961). She was a member of the American Nurses Association and the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists. Prior to her anesthesia training, she worked as a staff RN at Giles Country Hospital in Pulaski, TN, and at Giles County Public Health Department. Later she was employed as night supervisor at Lincoln County Hospital in Fayetteville, TN. She and her husband Jack raised their family in Gulfport, MS, until he passed away in 1990. She stayed in Gulfport, MS, until 1999 when she retired as an anesthetist at Garden Park Hospital. She then moved to Paducah, KY. where she became a member of First Baptist Church in Paducah, KY. She volunteered as a pharmacy tech at St. Nicholas Clinic in Paducah, KY, from 2001 until 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack R. VanLandingham, her father Everette Sumners of Pulaski, TN, and her mother Kathaleen Bates of Fayetteville, TN. She is survived by one son, Jack R. VanLandingham Jr., of Camarilla, CA, and two daughters Lee Ann (Kevin) O’Gea of Covington, LA, and Alicia Anderson (Phillip) of Paducah, KY. Mrs. VanLandingham is survived by one granddaughter, Kelly Sumners of Covington, LA, and two grandsons, Nikolas Anderson of Seattle, WA, and Justin Anderson of Paducah, KY. She is also survived by one sister, Betty Jean Driscoll of Micanopy, FL, and one half-sister Sandra Lee Clift of Dawson, GA. In accordance with her wishes there will be no ceremony.
