Lydia Maria (Wolf) Cackowski, also know as Oma. 77 years young, passed away on January 27,2026 at 0509 am at Missouri Delta Hospital in Sikeston Missouri surrounded by the love of her family.

Lydia was born on November 27, 1948, in Wiesbaden, Germany, to Fredrich and Maria Wolf. She built a life defined by hard work, generosity, faith, and unwavering devotion to God, her family, and her community.

On December 19, 1967, Lydia married Zdzislaw (Joe) Cackowski—a love story she often described to her children as love at first sight. As a proud military wife, Lydia embraced a life of service and adaptability. Lydia often opened her home to young soldiers far away from home including them as family. She learned to speak English, raised four children, maintained a home, and worked outside the home while supporting her husband’s Army career across multiple duty stations, frequently moving overseas every three years. She carried these responsibilities with remarkable strength, style, and grace.

Lydia spent many years working as a chef, a profession she embraced with both talent and passion until her retirement. Her love of cooking and serving others never faded; even in retirement, she faithfully ran the church kitchen, where she was cherished for her warm spirit, generosity, and dedication. In addition, Lydia owned and operated a pet store, reflecting her lifelong love of animals—a love well known to all who knew her.

Her commitment to service extended into public life as well. Lydia proudly served her community as Alderman to the Mayor of Parma, approaching her role with honesty, integrity, and a deep sense of responsibility to those she represented.

Above all else, Lydia loved her family fiercely. She found joy in baking cookies and sending them to family and friends, painting figurines, working puzzles, and completing crossword puzzles. One of her proudest moments—aside from being a devoted wife, mother, and child of God—was the day she became a United States citizen.

Lydia is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Zdzislaw (Joe) Cackowski of Parma, Missouri; her brother, Klaus Wolf, and his wife Rita of Germany; and her children: Dessie (Daisy) Gibson of Parma, Missouri; Barbie Bloom and her husband Christopher of Argillite, Kentucky; Joseph Cackowski and Elizabeth Long of Beecher, Illinois; and Richard Cackowski and his wife Kathy of York, Pennsylvania.

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Robert Cackowski of Flatwoods, Kentucky; Ama Sampley and Jeff Rushing of Parma, Missouri; Meagan Flatt and her husband Austin of Knoxville, Tennessee; Kari Bloom and David Wirrig of Wilmington, Ohio; Noah Cackowski and his wife Sia Cackowski, and Seth Cackowski of Beecher, Illinois; and Caleb Cackowski of York, Pennsylvania. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Kaylor Cackowski and her fiancé Dakota Daniels, and Kourtney Cackowski of Ashland, Kentucky; Zander Robertson, Aerah Robertson, Lotus Robertson, and Odin Rushing of Parma, Missouri; Lillie Bloom and Nora Wirrig of Wilmington, Ohio; and one great-great-grandchild, Maverick Daniels of Ashland, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be postponed, as Joe and Lydia wished to share one service and be laid to rest together as one
