Mary Lou Yates

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our sweet mother, Mary Lou Yates, lovingly known as Sue. She passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 9, 2025, in Paducah, KY at the age of 80, just a few weeks shy of her 81^st birthday.

She called Benton, KY and Key West, FL home. She lived a life marked by kindness and compassion. She had a gift for making others feel welcomed and loved.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George C. Yates; one daughter, Debra Lynn Neal; and one son-in-law, Steve Vibbert.

She is survived by her five children, Teresa (Daryl) Hobbs of Kuttawa, Terry (Julie) Wallace of Benton, Debbie (Dale) Riley of Benton, Julie (Mark) Powers of Paducah, and Sandy Vibbert of Paducah.

She was also the proud grandmother to twelve grandchildren and was blessed with several great-grandchildren.
She will be forever remembered for her generous spirit, her sense of fun, and the laughter she brought to every room. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy will live on in the hearts of all that knew her.

Funeral services will be at 7:00pm on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Lindsey Funeral Home with Bruce Chester officiating. Cremation will follow.

Friends may visit the family from 5:00pm to service hour on Wednesday at the funeral home.
